Description

Mura CMS is a full-featured, Open Source Content Management System designed to make building and maintaining websites as fast and painless as possible. In this session, we'll show you how to install Mura, create a site and then build it. We'll cover:

  • Applying themes
  • Adding content
  • Creating site structure
  • Creating a Blog
  • Creating a News Repository
  • Creating a Form
  • Creating a dynamic Home page with:
    • Custom Navigation (Latest Blog Posts)
    • Slideshow/Rotating Content (Latest News)
    • External RSS Feed (Showing links to external content using RSS)
    • User-Created Content
  • Editing Content from the Back and Front-End
  • Applying Permissions
  • Password-Protecting Content
  • Creating a built-in RSS Reader for Users (i.e. iGoogle, Netvibes, etc)
  • and more as time allows

Pre-Requisites

Because this is intended to be a hands-on session, having Mura installed and running on your laptop is highly recommended. We'll be covering the install process briefly for those who do not have access to a local working environment, but we won't be able to spend any time troubleshooting if issues arise.
