A more democratic conference - NCDevCon

In business, it's always a good idea to listen to your customers. In the case of a conference, our customers are attendees and sponsors. Both groups want to see good value for their money and we want to deliver it. This year we are trying something new, a more democratic conference process to give attendees the capability to shape NCDevCon 2012.

Conference Product

One of the products of a conference are the presentations we organize for our attendees. We took a survey to see what topics our attendees and prospective attendees were interested in. Mobile Development came rated very high this year. We also got high responses for Javascript development and frameworks, HTML5, CSS and ColdFusion. So we'll be heavily stacking the conference with topics on mobile, javascript, modern web development and ColdFusion.

Registrations

Now, in a conference registration process, we typically find a sizable group will purchase their ticket as soon as we open registration. To us, these are the true believers who know we'll put forth a good value for the money. After that initial wave comes a lull, then another sizable group purchases in the last 6 weeks of registration. This second group usually waits to see what content and speakers we offer at the conference. So we want to offer a more democratic process to choose the sessions and reward the early purchasers with a seat at the selection table.

On Democracy

This year, our call for speakers ends June 1. We'll take another week or so to organize the submitted sessions then open a voting with the then current ticket holders. This means, if you purchase your NCDevCon registration before the Call For Speakers ends, you will be allowed to vote on which sessions and topics you want in the NCDevCon 2012 conference.

We feel this is a pretty cool thing to offer to attendees and we do hope you'll become part of our session selection process. Our registration page is open and we look forward to working with you to put forth the best Mobile, Javascript, HTML5, ColdFusion content we possibly can.
